The optimal flow

Pressure controus for the optimal flow and the unstructured mesh used for its calculation. The optimal free stream Mach number is 1.99 which is hardly changed from the initial value 2. The two Bezier parameters experience a 7% and 107% change from their initial values.

Note the position of the shock wave. It is now very much at the same location as that for the target flow. In order to push the shock out to its correct position, the optimal shortened body has had to become significantly more blunt than the target body. Note also that the optimal body is not convex.

(Flow solution obtained using the GASP code of the Aerosoft Corp.)
